Nova Power & Gas inaugurated the largest battery energy storage facility in Florești and commenced construction of the 160-MW combined-cycle gas power plant in Câmpia Turzii
FLOREȘTI, December 12, 2025 – Nova Power & Gas, part of the E-INFRA Group, announces the commissioning and commencement of commercial operations of Romania’s largest battery energy storage facility, with an installed capacity of 200 MW and an energy storage capacity of 400 MWh, located in Florești, Cluj County.
Also today, the company announced the start of construction of the 160-MW combined-cycle power plant in Câmpia Turzii, a project scheduled to become operational by the end of 2026.
The total value of the two investments exceeds €350 million.
Speaking at the inauguration event, Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan stated:
‘Any investment that delivers direct benefits to people, whether through more stable prices or enhanced energy security, is one the Ministry of Energy fully supports. Battery storage and new generation capacities are precisely the types of projects Romania needs to modernize its energy system and safely integrate an increasing share of renewable energy sources.
Today, I visited Florești to see this major investment firsthand and to send a clear message: Romania needs responsible private capital, fair competition, and projects that deliver tangible results for consumers. The Ministry of Energy will continue to establish the appropriate framework for such investments, respecting the institutional roles and limits of the state while remaining an open and reliable partner for all those who create value in Romania.
I congratulate Nova Power & Gas for undertaking these projects and for its investment strategy focused on modern technologies, flexibility, and solutions that bring direct benefits to the energy system and consumers.’
‘Electricity production, storage, and balancing services underpin Nova Power & Gas’s investment strategy for the coming years. The company aims to become one of the leading players in electricity and gas production and supply in Romania, while also accelerating its regional expansion in the years ahead’, said Teofil Mureșan, Founder and President of the E-INFRA Group.
Nova Power & Gas is currently the national leader in battery energy storage capacity, with 240 MWh in operation. The company continues to expand its investment portfolio, which includes the development of a new 200-MW gas-fired power plant and more than 600 MW / 1,200 MWh of future energy storage projects.
Banca Transilvania is the long-standing financial partner for projects developed by Nova Power & Gas.
‘Banca Transilvania congratulates the Nova Power & Gas team on this historic achievement—the installation of the largest energy storage battery in Romania. In addition to doubling the country’s storage capacity, this project makes a significant contribution to energy security, the integration of renewable energy sources, and the transition to a sustainable future. Our bank already finances several projects developed by the E-INFRA Group, including energy storage capacities, and we are fully committed to supporting this new project as well’, stated Cosmin Călin, Senior Executive Director for Large Companies, Structured Finance, and Factoring at Banca Transilvania.
