Bucharest, November 4, 2019 Electrogrup, a member company of the E-INFRA group, announces that it has begun deployment works for a 5G telecommunications network, in the Netherlands, country that holds a top position in the Speedtest Global Index ranking – 7th worldwide by mobile Internet speed, and the project is among the first 5G network development initiatives at European level.

“We are delighted to have an active role among the first 5G project development initiatives at European level. One of the most complex challenges in order to activate the opportunities opened by the new technology is, as usual, the infrastructure, through the specific of the 5G networks, which involve the installation of a large number of antennas and equipment in the coverage areas. A large resource mobilization is required, but the benefits, especially for the economy, will be significantly higher than the ones generated by the previous technological leap, from 3G to 4G. This project in the Netherlands is the first of a series of other similar developments that we will launch next year, in Europe, and we are ready for the development of such networks in Romania as well – we have a very favorable local context to become 5G champions, as well” says Adrian Florea, CEO, Electrogroup.

The project in the Netherlands will run for two years – 2020 and 2021 and includes the installation of specific radio equipment 5G throughout the country.

Electrogrup is one of the most important telecommunications infrastructure developers in Romania, with a portfolio of over 1,000 mobile site installations, more than 3,500 projects for 2G, 3G, 4G and LTE equipment installation and over 15,000 km of fiber optic installed in Romania and other European countries, such as Belgium and Ireland.

Thus, Electrogroup continues its strategy to provide and develop services and infrastructure focused on the latest technologies, for the benefit of the population, after also having launched, earlier this year, a special division dedicated to Smart City & IoT projects, for which the application of new 5G technologies will be one of the catalysts.

5G is the name of the fifth generation of technology for cellular networks and is the successor to the 4G technology.
